'A Place to Call Home' Dec 9th-Jan31st

“A Place To Call Home” is an exhibition of work by two Scottish Borders artists, Lana Turner and Kimberley Harrison. An exploration of what “home” means - as both a physical space and an emotional landscape. Together form a visual dialogue between place and memory.

Lana is a mixed media visual artist, working with found photography. She layers her images with paint, pen, paper, pencil and thread, transforming them into haunting snapshots –fragments of thoughts, moments suspended in time. Favouring collage and textiles, she brings materiality and a tactile quality to her practice. Her practice is inspired by memories and lived experiences, exploring how our recollections resurface in pieces, and how the emotions tied to them linger and shift over time – blurred around the edges but sharp with feeling.

Kimberley is a mixed media artist who works primarily in monochrome. She uses fineliner pen, watercolour and ink to draw attention to texture, form and intricate detail. Recently she has begun to expand her practice by introducing photography and printmaking.

Her practice draws upon influences from Surrealism and Art Noveau, merging with her fascination with architecture. The result is a distinctive, whimsical visual style in which subtle, unexpected elements emerge from the familiar.
